I received excellent treatment in the Surgical Care Unit during my recent visit. In particular, though, I would like to commend Amy, who was not only attentive and helpful, but also delightful to talk with, both before and after my surgery. She is a true gem! UR Thompson is fortunate to have such caring individuals on their staff.

I can’t say enough about the care I received yesterday at Thompson. I went in with severe cramps and found out I had to have an appendectomy the same day. From the ER nurses, the doctor, the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, OR nurses and especially Casen, who managed my pain after the surgery so that I could go home. I admitted myself at about 7 AM and was leaving the hospital by about 2 PM. Thank you for the personable care I was given!

I have terrible stories in regards to this hospital that span decades. However, I was unlucky enough to have a bulged disc in my back in April. The ambulance took me to Thompson. Shockingly enough, my visit started out great. Immediately in the ED room, the doctor in to see me in 5 minutes or so. They gave me pain meds. I had a MRI. Noting significant enough to be admitted. My visit was good, until they wanted me to leave. My boyfriend left to swap vehicles as I was told I would be discharged in an hour or so. Apparently they changed their mind, because 20 minutes later they were putting me in a wheel chair and sending me out to the entrance to the waiting room although my ride was 30 minutes away. This probably would also have been fine if I did not start projectile vomiting as soon as I got into the wheel chair. They pushed me past the nurses desk while I was vomiting. They pushed me through the waiting room while I was vomiting. They left me in the little foyer of the waiting room by myself while I waited a half hour for my ride to arrive. The administrator behind the admissions desk looked out at me at one point while I was vomiting. She kept on sitting there though. I received no help from anyone. There I sat in the entry way completely high on Dilauded and violently ill with my purse set on my knee where the orderly left it and in an unlocked wheel chair while I vomited. I am talking severely vomiting. Not spitting up, not nauseous. Projectile vomiting into a little pink basin. Luckily I was too sick to try to get up. I did not fall out of the chair. However, I did call and put in a complaint which they "looked into". I told the woman on the phone that I did not anything from them, but rather I had hoped that my complaint would be a learning opportunity. I know that there are cameras everywhere in the ED. I asked for them to be pulled and viewed. It took a couple of months, but I just got my response back and it does not sit well with me. They basically broomed me. Now I am wishing that I had complained to the Board of Health as I was told to do by many people in health care. I am a relatively healthy 53 year old. Be sure if you end up at this ED with a loved one, that someone is there to advocate for them until you leave. There is no one there to care about your well being. Even though this hospital has been taken over by the U of R, they are still the same substandard ED that they have always been.

Every person we connected with tonight was the best kind of human and healer. Thank you for helping my kid and making the emergency room way less scary.

My ER doctor told me that kidney stones don’t cause pain when I was in the ER with an 8mm LPC kidney stone, and I wasn’t given any referrals or treatment options for it even though it was absolutely causing severe pain and even vomiting. They literally just told me they were gonna leave it in and that was that. That was 2 days ago. Currently I’m sitting in their waiting room, as I have been for the last TWO HOURS with SEVERE chest pains, nausea and dry heaving, on top of the kidney stone and being COVID positive. The only thing they’ve done is check my vitals which are stable.

This is for the people who meet you at the door the second you come through. NOT the doctors, nurses or technicians. (All have treated me very well) before the door closes behind me I hear DO you know where you going? My sister was in ICU for months , first time this person sent me to the wrong area (observation) yesterday I was going to imaging (was pretty sure of where) I pointed said imaging right? No you have go to number 6 over there to register. Um no I don't. SIGH..OK THEN..And I was correct. My complaint if you are going to put these people there PLEASE make sure they know facts . .cause they dont!!

I have been here three days after an extensive ankle break. I can’t say enough about this hospital. Every interaction with every single person has been absolutely great!!! I live much closer to Rochester but my accident happened out here. I’m so glad I landed here. Far better than any of the Rochester area hospitals. Still, I am hoping to go home today?
